The Davao City government and the Department of Transportation conducted a
ceremonial signing of civil works contracts for the construction of
infrastructure facilities for the Davao City Bus project.
Davao City Mayor Sebastian Z Duterte acknowledged the national government's
support for the project and cited its importance.
At the same time, Atty. Tristan Dwight Domingo, Davao Bus Project manager
asked the DOTr to guarantee funding to deliver the project on time.
Domingo said the Davao Bus Project will help improve economic activity, as
well as hasten the movement of people and goods in and around the Davao
Region.
The DOTr earlier signed four civil works contracts that involved the design
and construction of the five bus depots to be located in Buhangin, Sasa,
Sto. Niño, Calinan, and Toril; three terminals to be located in Calinan,
Bunawan, and Toril; the Driving School; bus stops, bus lanes, and
pedestrian lanes.
Davao City officials are acting in the best interests of residents and
communities in the region by seeking to complete the bus project on
schedule.
