Commuters in Metro Manila can soon hail regular metered taxis through a
mobile app like those offered by ride-sharing networks.
The PNTOA or the Philippine National Taxi Operator Association recently
announced that they will be launching the "MiCab", a mobile application
through which commuters may book rides.
According to PNTOA, "MiCab" has been operating in Cebu since July of this
year and is targeted to be expanded in Metro Manila in October.
The PNTOA says that "MiCab" has met with the Land Transportation
Franchising and Regulatory Board or LTFRB to seek the agency's permission
to operate in the metro.
The PNTOA also adds that aside from the fixed pricing, passengers will also
have to pay an additional booking fee.
Aside from offering commuters another accessible ride-sharing network, the
"MiCab" is also seen to debunk the accusations of the majority against
taxis. That's all for this week on transportation and traffic management
updates. Motoring Today now takes a short break.
