The MPTC PPP Projects
The Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation or MPTC has lined up a number of
Public-Private Partnership or PPP projects and expansion projects in a bid
to boost infrastructure and development programs and help traffic
decongestion.
Among the PPP Projects in the pipeline that the MPTC is undertaking is the
construction of three big projects, the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road, the
Cavite-Laguna Expressway or CALAX, and the CAVITEX C5 South Link that links
expressways in the North and the South. In the Visayas, the Cebu-Cordova
Link Expressway has also started construction.

This is also the first year in our corporate history that we will be
undertaking the construction of big projects simultaneously. This year,
while we are about to complete Segment 10 of our Harbor Link project in
NLEX. This year, we are also starting the construction of the C-5 link in
Cavitex. This quarter, we will laso start the construction of the CALA
Expressway (CALAx) that is a big project connecting Cavite and Laguna and
linking the new expressway to Cavitex. Also this year, both Cavitex and the
C-5 Link projects are going to start construction on the second quarter of
2017. Also this year, as was explained earlier, in the third quarter, we
are going to start the construction of our big project in Cebu called the
Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX). That is the first expressway that the
Metro Pacific Group will undertake outside Luzon and slated to start
construction in July of this year."
The MPTC reports that the said projects are envisioned to support the
government's "Build Build Build" infrastructure program aimed to improve
the economy of new growth corridors in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao with
infrastructures that facilitate faster and efficient transport of people
and goods.
Aside from the PPP Projects, MPTC is also increasing the capacity of NLEX
by constructing additional lanes and exits, and expanding toll plazas and
interchanges.

Apart from this PPP Projects, we have on-going expansion projects both in
NLEX, SCTEX and also in Cavitex. In NLEX, we are about to complete the
addition of one lane of our portion from Guiguinto to San Fernando in
Pampanga. Late this year, we will start also the expansion of our Subic
Freeport Expressways. We will add another lane to the Subic Freeport
Expressway and the San Fernando Interchange is also undergoing expansion.
In Cavitex, apart from the extension to the C-5, we are also adding another
lane in our portion and this is what we called, Coastal Road portion. There
will be an expansion of that also to be completed within the year. Apart
from that, we will be constructing an elevated left turning ramp going to
Macapagal Highway. We will be able to facilitate the traffic going from
Cavitex to the Mall of Asia area."
With the projects in the pipeline, MPTC envisions a great improvement in
traffic decongestion nationwide in a few years time.
