Land Transportation Office chief Vigor Mendoza II says the agency is
inching closer toward finally solving the backlog in the distribution of
motorcycle license plates.
Mendoza made the claim in a Philippine News Agency report on the LTO
distributing a total of 1,223 plates for tricycles in Marikina City.
The distribution of plates marked the end of the backlog for registered
tricycles in Marikina City, and we are inching closer to addressing the
backlog of motorcycle license plates, he said.
In an interview, Mendoza also said he expects the backlog to be solved
by July of this year.
The distribution of license plates will assist in identifying and
apprehending "colorum" or illegal tricycles in Marikina, said Mendoza,
citing the success of similar initiatives in other cities, such as Quezon
City, where illegal tricycles were reportedly eradicated.
The successful distribution of license plates in Marikina City is a
promising sign that the LTO is making strides in regulating tricycles in
public transport and the private use of motorcycles.
