Commuters are now benefitting from he extension of the LRT-1 now runs from
Baclaran to Sucat. Five new stations have been added.
The new stops-Redemptorist-Aseana, Ninoy Aquino Avenue, PITX, MIA Road, and
Dr. Santos-bring the total number of LRT-1 stations to 25.
Unlike the older train stations from Balintawak to Baclaran, the new
stations offer a fresh and modern commuting experience, featuring
functioning escalators, elevators, clean restrooms, and dedicated first-aid
stations.
The stations even feature digital arrival boards showing arrival times of
the next two trains.
With the new stations, travel time from the now southern endpoint of the
LRT-1, the Dr. Santos or Sucat Station, to the Fernando Poe Jr. Station
(formerly Roosevelt Station) in Quezon City averages around 55 minutes.
Let's explore what commuters can expect at the five new LRT-1
stations.
Nestled at the intersection of Roxas Boulevard and Bradco Avenue
in Aseana City, Redemptorist-Aseana Station is the first stop on the
extended line beyond the former LRT-1 terminus, Baclaran Station.
Conveniently close to popular spots like S&R-Aseana and Seaside Market
Baclaran, as well as the DFA, there is also a pedestrian footbridge that
allows easy access to Baclaran Church.
Situated at the junction of Roxas Boulevard and Seaside Drive, the station
provides convenient access to City of Dreams and Okada Manila.
Buses, jeepneys, and UV Express vans are available from the station, along
with free jeepney rides to Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
Also known as the Asia World Station, the PITX Station is directly
connected to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange via an escalator.
This bustling hub is crucial for passengers traveling to various
destinations, including airport terminals and the seaport, via
point-to-point buses, shuttles, and taxis.
The station also features a range of dining options at the food terminal
and convenient access to public transport.
Situated above Ninoy Aquino Avenue, this station is the closest LRT-1 stop
to NAIA Terminal 1, though passengers with luggage may find the walk
lengthy. This station is ideally placed for students and residents from
surrounding barangays.
Nearby attractions include the Parańaque Cathedral and Duty Free
Philippines Fiestamall, making it a convenient stop for both education and
shopping.
Also known as Sucat Station, the Dr. Santos Station serves as the southern
terminus until Phase 2, extending to Bacoor, is completed in 2031.
Conveniently located next to SM City Sucat, the station provides easy
access to various amenities.
Key landmarks, including San Dionisio Barangay Hall, Olivarez College, and
The Premier Medical Center, ensure great accessibility for both locals and
visitors.
With the introduction of the new stations and modern amenities, the LRT-1
Cavite Extension provides a compelling alternative to car travel across the
metro, especially amidst traffic congestion. The stations serve as
connections to shopping, dining, and other transportation options, making
commuting more efficient and convenient for users.
It's going to be another long wait for Phase 2 of the LRT-1 Cavite
extension project to be completed, stretching the commuter train system to
Bacoor But given how commuters are benefitting from Phase 1, the wait
should be worth it.
