The LTO and the PNP are partnering with rider groups to enhance safety
along Marilaque following a tragic incident that resulted in the death of
rider performing stunts in a twisty segment of the notorious road.
LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II organized a motorcade as part of the "Make
Marilaque Road Safe Again" initiative to drum up support for a serious
campaign to stop all those dangerous stunts on twisty segments of the road.
The LTO wants to stop groups of riders continuing to use the Marilaque Road
as a venue for making click-baiting reels of motorcycles stunts and
miscues.
The LTO also wants to use this new campaign to make Marilaque safe for all
motorists to spark a wider initiative to make all roads safer nationwide.
The LTO is heartened that this new initiative has attracted the support of
various corporations and motorcycle community groups, indicating a
collective desire to improve road safety throughout the Philippines.
The days following the fatal incident at Marilaque saw authorities
implementing a series of actions intended to stop so-called vloggers from
gathering along segments of the notorious road as well as discouraging
stunts and unsafe riding. The question is: Will this campaign be
sustained?
