Proper rider education and training is needed to enhance safety of
motorists not only on Marilaque Road but also all other roads and
thoroughfares nationwide.
This was stressed by George Royeca, CEO of Angkas, the country's largest
motorcycle taxi service, during the #MakeMarilaqueSafeAgain event that
gathered together government authorities as well a private stakeholders in
the wake of the tragic incident at Marilaque Road.
The accident, which involved a dangerous stunt, has led to public outrage
and demands for stricter enforcement against illegal racing and reckless
driving behavior on Marilaque and other roads nationwide.
According to news reports, key figures during the event, including Tanay
Mayor Rex Tanjuatco and Senator JV Ejercito, committed to increasing
enforcement measures to prevent a similar tragedy.
Royeca highlighted the importance of rider education alongside enforcement.
Angkas offers a training program with a high safety rating, demonstrating
that well-trained riders can operate motorcycles safely.
During the event, public figures like Kim Atienza also advocated for a
cultural shift towards responsible riding.
It should be noted that Angkas CEO Royeca is the first nominee of the
Angkasangga Party-list looking for congressional seat in the coming
elections.
