A group is moving to oust Vigor D. Mendoza II as chief of the Land
Transportation Office for allegedly allowing anomalous transactions to
happen at the LTO using the previous outdated LTO-IT system.
The group calling themselves the Coalition for Good Government issued a
statement asking President Bongbong Marcos to fire Mendoza, calling into
question why registration and computer fees were increased also using the
old LTO-IT system.
Among members of the group who signed the statement were Diolito N.
Inosanto, president of FELTOP; Augosto C. Lagman, AAP Board Member; and
Martin Delos Angeles, vice president of the Philippine Transport Monitor.
Under Mendoza more anomalous registration of vehicles without insurance
policies or with fake insurance and no proper inspection happened at the
LTO, the group alleged.
Another group had earlier published a notice in newspapers seeking
Mendoza's ouster for alleged "acts inimical and prejudicial to the motoring
public and to the Philippine Government."
The notice was signed by Diolito N. Inosanto, president of FELTOP; Jun
Rustico S. Braga, founding president of Konsumo Pinas; Jay Ar Tumulac,
secretary general of Magtulungan Tayo; Martin delos Angeles, vice president
of Philippine Transport Monitor; Dangel Charlene A. Tabin, president of
Samahan ng Kabataan Para sa Kabuluhang Pagbabago; and Ma. Rosebel Luz, vice
chair of Kamalaya Consumer Cooperative.
Will the President heed the call for Mendoza's ouster? So far there's no
indication he will. No indication also if the call for his ouster is
affecting Mendoza in the performance of his duties as head of the LTO.
