Passage on the NLEX Connector from the Caloocan to España is now more
expensive.
The Toll Regulatory Board has authorized the collection of the updated toll
rates for the NLEX Connector starting October 15, 2024.
Motorists using Class 1 vehicles (regular cars and SUVs) are charged a flat
rate of ₱119 pesos, Class 2 (or buses and small trucks), ₱299 pesos ; and
Class 3 vehicles (or large trucks), ₱418.
According to the tollway operator, the NLEX Connector has reduced the
travel time between C3 in Caloocan and Magsaysay Boulevard in Manila to
just seven minutes.
Toll was collected on the NLEX Connector last year four months after the
opening of Section 1 from Caloocan to Espana in March.
The toll was not raised when Section 2 from Espana to Magsaysay Boulevard
was opened in October of last year, letting motorists use the longer
stretch for almost a year with no toll adjustment.
NLEX Corporation hinted at another toll hike when the NLEX Connector
Project is completed.
The NLEX Connector is the first expressway in the Philippines to implement
a barrierless system and uses 100% RFID, allowing faster transactions at
toll plazas.
Everybody says time is precious. How precious? Perhaps a hundred pesos for
a seven-minute ride precious. Although some complain about being trapped on
elevated tollways for much longer than seven-minutes.
