New Segments of Cavitex-C5 Link Underway

The Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), is not about to let the Covid-19 pandemic affect its timeline for completion of segments of the Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) C-5 Link Expressway.

Preparatory work has begun at Segment 3A-2 along the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) area as well as the ground improvement work for Segment 2, a 1.9-kilometer, 2x3 lane expressway from Cavitex Expressway to a proposed interchange at Sucat.

Segment 3A-2 is a 1.6-kilometer, 2x3 lane expressway from Merville to RSG Subdivision in Parañaque.

CIC aims to complete construction and open to motorists both Segments 2 and 3 by the second quarter of 2022 when it is expected to serve 50,000 cars daily and reduce travel time from Las Piñas, Parañaque and the Cavitex to Makati and Taguig from the average of an hour to just around 10 minutes.

Bobby Bontia, CIC President and General Manager, said they are doubling efforts on the construction of Segment 2 and Segment 3A-2 while complying with government directives on health protocols to ensure the safety of around 200 workers undertaking the build in shifts 24/7.
