At the recent Smart Mobility Forum organized by the European Chamber of
Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and Fairs and More, Inc., the Department
of Transportation (DOTr) presented various transport infrastructure
projects and programs of the four sectors under its umbrella - Aviation and
Airports, Maritime, Railways, and Road Transport.
DOTr Undersecretary for Railways Timothy John Batan represented Transport
Secretary Arthur Tugade at the forum which had the theme: "Reimagining the
Future."
In a keynote address, Usec. Batan noted that in the "new normal" forced
upon communities and industries by the CoViD-19 pandemic, the DOTr is
promoting smart mobility through digitalization.
Usec. Batan said the DOTr was harnessing the prime practices of technology
and carrying out new innovations, as a response to the economy's and
society's changing needs.
He added that DOTr was undertaking present initiatives as part of long-term
solutions for the future so that commuters will regain confidence in
commuting.
The primary goal of the DOTr is to establish smart mobility across the
country's archipelago aligned with the marching order from the President to
make the Filipino life comfortable.
