After years and years of having to go through a drug test in order to
secure a Philippine driver's license, Congress has finally passed a law
that says we don't need it anymore.
Motoring Today got it straight from the mouth of the Land Transportation
Authority, or rather from a very reliable source inside the LTO. We talked
to Director Francis Almora of the LTO - Law Enforcement Service for this confirmation.
And in case you have not noticed, the procedure of securing or renewing a
Philippine driver's license has just gotten faster and simpler. Where
before this was a headache for everyone and getting a driver's license has
been referred to as the great equalizer for all Filipinos, this is no
longer the case now.
Yes, it was referred to as the great equalizer because whether you are a
senator or a jeepney driver, you had to make a personal appearance at the
LTO and go through the rigorous process of licensing. The LTO promises that
this is a thing of the past, and everyone is just too happy about it.
