With the government's Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program
underway, transport groups and operators are preparing to comply with the
guidelines. Here are updates from PasangMasda, one of the pioneer transport
groups in the country.
Transport Group PasangMasda said that their own fleet is based on the Land
Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board's Omnibus Franchising
Guidelines which requires them to go under certain procedures to modernize
their vehicles.
Regarding the fleet management, PasangMasda stressed that they are
requiring their drivers to attend Land Transportation Office or LTO's
Driver's Academy. This way, according to the transport group, they can
ensure that the drivers who will operate the modern jeepneys are credible.
Additionally, under fleet management, PasangMasda stated that the routes
will have designated loading and unloading stops.
PasangMasda highlighted that their modern jeeps are from China. The
transport group added that the P10 fare rate will be justifiable because
the jeeps will be safer, more convenient and more secured compared to the
present ones.
Moreover, PasangMasda said that the LTFRB approved 4 routes which are
developmental, meaning there won't be any existing routes and operators
that will be affected.
PasangMasda stated that their loan from the Land Bank of the Philippines
has been approved and they will start purchasing units from China. The
transport group noted that the units will be Euro-4 compliant.
