A private sector has stepped up with regard to the traffic decongestion in
EDSA by opening a terminal that operates a number of bus companies. What's
better with this initiative is that it is supported by the Department of
Transportation or DOTr and Marikina's local government.
The BFCT East Transport Terminal, a project supported by the Metro Manila
Eastern Multi-Modal Transport Terminal, which intends to operate buses
going to different destinations in the country, recently started operating.
The BFCT says that they are currently operating 10 bus companies and they
will be accepting more once the DOTr releases their accreditation. In line
with that, the private sector says that they are working on their documents
and requirements.
According to the BFCT, bus companies are charged P300.00 for unloading at
the terminal, and P150.00 for loading.
The BFCT also adds that the facilities in the terminal ensure the benefit,
safety and comfort of the passengers.
The private sector says that the terminal is expected to accommodate 60
million passengers which is a big help in decongesting the traffic in Metro
Manila and other neighboring areas.
Like the Metro Manila Eastern Multi-Modal Transport Terminal in Marikina
City, we hope that other private sectors would step up as well in creating
more projects that would help decongest the traffic in the country.
Nevertheless, it's good to see that both the government and a number of
private sectors are consistent in improving connectivity and the transport system.
