Toll Interoperability

The DOTr or the Department of Transportation together with the Department of Public Works and Highways or DPWH, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority or BCDA and the Land Transportation Office or LTO inked a partnership that will ease the toll operation in all existing expressways in the country.

The Department of Transportation, Department of Public Works and Highways, Bases Conversion and Development Authority, Toll Regulatory Board, and the Land Transportation Office recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement or MOA with the toll road operators in the country to unify toll collection in order to facilitate seamless travel and enhance connectivity.

Under the MOA, expressway operators will be required to update their collection systems to allow interoperability and integration.

This way, motorists can experience a new level of convenience.

The interoperability for electronic toll collection shall be implemented immediately, while cash payment collection shall be implemented six months from the signing of the MOA.

In addition, the DOTr said that getting them all to agree on a common and unified toll collection system is an exercise of both political will and common sense.
